How long does it take to build an app?

Short answer

A simple app with a few screens takes about 6 to 10 weeks. A typical MVP with login, a backend and payments takes 3 to 4 months. A larger product with several user roles, admin panels and integrations can take 6 months or more, usually released in stages.

Typical timelines

Simple app (a few screens, no complex backend): 6 to 10 weeks. MVP with accounts, data and payments: 3 to 4 months. Marketplace or multi role app (customer, provider, admin): 5 to 8 months. Store review adds a few days on Android and up to about a week on iOS.

What drives the timeline

Number of user types, how many integrations (payments, maps, chat, video), offline needs, admin dashboards and how fast decisions are made.

How to ship sooner

Pick the one job the first version must do well. Use a cross platform framework like Flutter or React Native so one codebase serves Android and iOS. Test builds every week or two instead of one big reveal.

Is it faster to build for Android first?

With Flutter or React Native, building both together adds little time. Native apps for each platform take longer.

How long does app store approval take?

Google Play review usually takes a few days. Apple review is often one to three days but can take longer for first submissions.
